Cindy Sheehan's protest outside George W. Bush's ranch dishonours all Americans who have lost their lives in Iraq. I speak as one whose son served in the Sunni Triangle. I am not going to bleat about the anguish my son's family went through every day he was there, because he was doing what he wanted and what he faced was far worse than our worries.

Casey Sheehan volonteered to go back to Iraq after one tour of duty. He wanted to help and be with his buddies - the sort of thing the protestors in Crawford could never understand. His mother threatened to run him over with her car if he went. Hey mom, thanks for the adult treatment. "Let's see, the 'muj' are trying to kill me in Iraq and Mom wants to kill me when I get home - hows my morale today, Sarge?"

It's no wonder Casey wanted anything, including fighting jihadis a second time, to his mother's anti-American ranting . Mrs. Sheehan is a full-on moonbat. She calls the Iraqi fascists and suicide bombers "freedom fighters"! She makes anti-semitic remarks and praises Hamas! She attacks other mothers who have lost relatives and slanders them!

It is terrible Casey died, but no more terrible than any other death in a war. Cindy Sheehan (it is time to say it), is an unhinged person whose grief has taken on tones of dishonour, disgrace and affront to the memory of her son and his comrades. Her fallen son deserves a lot better.

The Boks face the daunting prospect of New Zealand's Dunedin Stadium, the "House of Pain" where they have never won and New Zealand hardly ever lose. The stakes could not be higher. The Tri-Nations Championship and World No 1 Official Ranking. The Boks have made an amazing turnaround. Their rock-like defense is magnificent. Can they inflict bruises on the All Blacks or suffer themselves in the infamous Pain House? If I was to send a message to the Boks today it would be, "Work hard, pray hard, and tackle like hell".

(P.S. They lost a very tight 27-31 final, in which they recovered all the lost pride of SA rugby. Well done Africa!)

An excellent new book by a Frenchman helps us understand the irrational hatred of the United States, so prevalent in Europe and the world at present. Read all the reviews here

After the 9/11 attack on the United States, the brief moment of sympathy for America soon gave way to blame. In France and elsewhere, it was said that the Americans had brought this violence upon themselves. The U.S. was a "cowboy" nation unwilling to abide by the will of the United Nations and other multilateral institutions, and bent on pursuing its objectives at any cost. It was the "hyperpower" whose corporations manipulated world markets and whose riches are acquired at the price of Third World impoverishment. No wonder it had been attacked, as the book synopsis says.

Angered by the assault against a nation he knows and admires, the distinguished French intellectual Jean-Francois Revel has come to America's defense.

"Revel believes that what he calls the "anti-American obsession" is based on a willful disregard of the most obvious facts of American political and social life, its economic freedom and democratic traditions. He sees much anti-Americanism simply as anti-capitalism in disguise on the part of those--in Europe and the rest of the world--who are still committed to doctrines that are at heart illiberal and even totalitarian."

One can't agree more with this thesis.

This could be the name of a comedy series except it happens to be the nearest epithet one can think of for the British MSM. The Observer delivers the following breathless report, now that 52 Britons have been killed by suicide bombing:

"The Muslim Council of Britain is officially the moderate face of Islam. Its pronouncements condemning the London bombings have been welcomed by the government as a model response for mainstream Muslims. The MCB's secretary general, Iqbal Sacranie, has recently been knighted and senior figures within the organisation have the ear of ministers.

But an Observer investigation can reveal that, far from being moderate, the Muslim Council of Britain has its origins in the extreme orthodox politics in Pakistan."

Amazing! Scoop! Brilliant! Er...............? The problem is that the Blogosphere has been pointing this out about the MCB for at least 3 years. Their numerous and well researched writings were dismissed and attacked as "Islamophobic". It has taken many dead for the MSM to admit what the blogs knew ages ago. Sir Iqbal Scranie of the MCB is a fraud fronting for fundamentalism.

To the amazement of the average brain dead Brit media consumer fed on MSM lies and distortions, the following must also be stunning news:

"The strain of Islamic ideology favoured by the MCB leadership and many of its affiliate organisations is inspired by Maulana Maududi....(himself) ........influenced by Sayyid Qutb, usually credited as the founding father of modern Islamic radicalism and one of the inspirations for al-Qaeda.

In Maududi's worldview all humanity was split into believers (practising Muslims) and non-believers, whom he describes as 'barbarians'."

Stunning for whom? The fact that the leftist Guardian even publishes this article from it's sister Observer is certainly a sign . Yet it's boring and stale news to the many blogs who have been frantically trying to get the message over the internet for years.

No matter how many times some people are told, they still cling to a myth that some form of "liberal Islam" is the norm, perhaps accomodating gay clergy, female mullahs, pork menus and accomodation with Western consumerism. They delude themselves it is being somehow supressed or obscured by minority hardline fundamentalism. This is the "surely these folks are reasonable like us?" line of thinking.

However Islam is sina qua non a political religion in it's mainstream, and one that expresses fundamentalist values as the median, not the exception. Those who thought the Iranian election would bring about "liberal reform" were once more shown to be idle dreamers. Now the terrorist-loving President of Iran, Ahmadinejad, has appointed hardliners to all key ministerial positions and Tehran is about to re-open plutonium processing. The basic message to the EU appeasement team negotiating over nuclear matters and led by Chamberlain-In-Chief Jacques Chirac is: a firm Iranian middle finger.

The SA Springboks impressive defence of their Tri Nations rugby title against the New Zealand All Blacks continues, with a pulsating, old fashioned slugfest between these two legendary rivals. The Boks won 22-16 in a game where they showed amazing defensive committment.

Of course, there are those who decry this supposedly "negative" style of rugby. However anyone who has ever played the game must acknowledge that a full 80 minutes of near faultless defense against the world's highest rated offensive team is an extraordinary feat.

More amazing pandering to terrorists by Britain's suicidal Law Lords, led by Tony Blair's absurd wife,(see my earlier March blog "Cherie The Sheep") Cherie. There are fisked by the relentless Melanie Phillips and one should read it all.

It's surprising how little in the Western media about the death of Dr. John Garang, leader of the largely Christian black southern Sudanese. Garang fought Africa's longest civil war, lasting a 21 brutal years and ending in the non-Muslims forcing Khartoum to allow partial autonomy and the suspension of sharia. A few days later and Garang is dead in a helicopter crash.

For 1300 years the Islamic north used the south Sudan as a slaving ground, exporting perhaps as many hapless black kafirs (unbelievers) as the entire Atlantic slave trade - and from one region of Africa alone. Males were mostly castrated as eunuchs and females sent to harems all over the Muslim world.

From 1883 the British ruled Sudan, protected the blacks and tried to introduce the rule of law. Rapidly after the British left some 50 years ago the Muslims began their opression, forced conversion, slavery, massacre and sharia mistreatment of the southern blacks all over. The south Sudanese decided they had to fight back or perish.

The Nuba, Dinka and others taught the entire world a lesson in standing up to Islamist extremism, defeating the endless jihads directed at the poor, starving and isolated south. Probably 3 million people lost their lives in war and famine, yet they won - and with oil to exploit, southern Sudan could eventually vote for viable independance from the north.

Current northern Arab Sudanese attitudes to black African Muslims, let alone kafirs, is shown by the on-going Darfur crisis. Garang, the SPLA, Darfur and the plight of black Africans are an intense and silencing embarassment to the leftists and their PC bedfellows. Pro-Western black Christians defeating Islamists? What sauce!

We should have heard a lot more about this heroic conflict but the MSM is uncomfortable with the whole thing.
