WALES,WALES,WALES
It's been 27 years since I revelled in the breakneck, high risk and super-skills style of Welsh rugby. That was the last time they won a Grandslam of the Six Nations Championship. Today is another chance and I have reserved a good Romeo & Julieta cigar for the occasion. Let's hope Ireland don't spoil the party.
A TALE OF TWO TYRANTS
The response of the world's oldest socialist buffoon, Fidel Castro, to being named among the 2005 world's richest men has been to threaten to sue Forbes magazine for listing him. The absurdity of a communist leader who supposedly owns nothing using expensive lawyers to sue for millions of dollars speaks for itself. Forbes is quite right. Castro and his gang of political criminals a.k.a. the Cuban Communist Party control all wealth in Cuba and the people have none. While Cubans stand in queues sucking pebbles as they wait for food rations, and waiters beg you for spare asprins in this land of the supposed 'world's best medical system', Castro is the darling mascot of the world's left and chatterati classes. Well, they liked Saddam too.
Here at home, fellow tyrant Robert Mugabe has got his kangaroo High Court to disbar 3.4 million Zimbabweans abroad from voting in the 2005 general election. Uncle Bob is well known as a democrat of note and (dis)enfranchisement is something he understands. This represents about one fifth ( or even a quarter) of Zimbabwe's population. They have fled his 're-distribution' of land, the starvation and his thugs in the ZANU party he heads. Every Zimbabwean exile would vote against Mugabe. The ruling by his legal minions ensures the mad Marxist will continue his ruination of Zimbabwe for another 5 years.

HISTORY IN THE MAU-MAUING?
Acres of coverage in Kenya over Harvard historian Caroline Elkin's 'Imperial Reckoning: The Untold Story of Britain's Gulag in Kenya'. Typically for a 'progressive historian' Ms. Elkins was able to offer no evidence for comments like, 'We know 11,500 people officially died in the Mau Mau uprising, but it could be 100,000'.
Mau Mau was not a pleasant episode in Kenya's history; the gangs were mostly ruthless and barbarically cruel, as were many British or settler counter-insurgents. Ms. Elkins has chosen to be an advocate for one side, but history has two. Many would argue Mau Mau unneccessarily interfered with Jomo Kenyatta's political independance movement. Radicals wish to remake it into a neo-Marxist 'liberation war'. In truth Mau Mau remains an enigma, part Maji-Maji style African 'magical rebellion', part liberation struggle and certainly a civil war within the Kikuyu tribe of modernists vs traditionalists.
Thousands of Christian Africans were slaughtered in terrorist intimidation by the Mau Mau, as well as tens of thousands being interned in camps by the British. Conditions ranged from vile to quite reasonable. Torture and counter-torture were rife. The British did themselves little credit and the Mau Mau likewise.
Resemblances to the true Soviet gulags are overblown. Mau Mau was broken within 5 years and the detention policies wound down. There must have been many untold atrocities on both sides, but the biggest public scandal was 8 detainees 'disciplined' to death at Hola detention camp. Unlike Russia , this was openly investigated in the House of Commons and by the press. The British government nearly fell in the ensuing Abu Ghraib-type scandal.
Most of Stalin's millions of prisoners in Siberia would have happily swapped places with many Mau Mau detainees.

CHERIE THE SHEEP

Another weird legal decision (U.K. Court of Appeal), this over the right of a Muslim girl to wear a full jilbab ( a head to toe garment) at school. The school was mostly Muslim and allowed the Muslim headscarf, integrated into a uniform. Muslim scholars testified the headscarf alone was fully "Islamic". Not enough for the voiciferous little Islamic-radical wannbee, one Miss Shabina Begum, aged 15.
Said she was a victim of what she called "a general vilification of Islam since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States". No word of course for the true casualties of that Islamic mad-moment. Yet, as we know, when Muslims bleat, the multiculti sheep will surely follow.
So now you can attend school in a nun's outfit, a satanical dress with horns ('Satanism' is a recognised 'religion' in British legal practise), a Bhuddist robe, Druid outfit and so on, presumably as long as these "manifest your religion"? The whole idea of school uniforms is uniformity and equality, not arrogent exceptionalism.
Who led the legal team for Shabina the Jihadista? Cherie Blair QC, wife of the Prime Minister. There are lemmings and then there is the sea. One sees sometimes a moth and often a candle. Then there is the British neo-left establishment.

POWERSPEAK!
Many thanks to the famous Powerlineblog, voted Time Magazine's "Blog of the Year", for mentioning RightSpeak in a recent post. I had pointed out the little matter of Eichmann's 'efficiency' in the eyes of Associated Press. They re-posted my ideas and linked to my humble blog, which has brought quite a few hits. It feels great and is a perfect example of the inclusive nature of the blogoshere, and why it is changing the exclusive MSM.
THE VANISHING FEW

Posted by Hello
This is Orwells_Ghost with Daniel. He's a Loita Maasai I met on my Febuary 05 walking safari. To my amazement he turned out to be a guide on Robert Vavra's 1980's expedition to the Loitas, one I recommended to him and which features in his book, The Unicorns of Kilimanjaro. The walkers were (as I had warned) attacked by a large cape buffalo and one of Robert's American assistants was gravely wounded as the buffalo knocked him flat, then stood over him proceeded to pound his back with it's huge horn boss.
Robert and the other two Maasai porters had fled up trees, but Vavra threw his jacket down to distract the bull. It worked, and Daniel, who stayed on the ground, put a spear into the buffalo, followed by 2 more and killed it. The assistant took weeks to recover in hospital from cracked bones.
Daniel knows all the old time hunters, it was a pleasure to meet such a brave man from the old days in Africa, their numbers are dwindling fast. At the same time I got news my father's old hunting tracker, Kinashora, passed away near Entesegera recently - Daniel knew him too.

CEDARPOWER
Hmm......... the government of Lebanon has just resigned, shades of the Ukraine. Unprecedented scenes of people power on the streets of Lebanon, Syria in utter disarray and probably about to respond the only way it knows how, by a diversionary bombing of some kind. Syrians desperatly reaching out to Iran for "closer ties" in a last ditch effort to shore up support for it's collapsing brand of Arab fascism. All for this was unimaginable in a pre-Iraq war world.
The more one looks at it, the more it's not GWB is out of touch, but the entire European and US leftist intelligensia and political class.
Even the hapless, ignorant MSM is beginning to ask the question: Is this not down to Washington's clear leadereship on democratic values in the region? The answer is obvious.

THE SOUL OF EFFICIENCY
In an article about "Professor" Ward Churchill, AP casually informs us that in comparing 911 victims to "little Eichmanns", Churchill was referring to someone who "ensured the smooth running of the Nazi system".
Eichmann the efficient train conductor, last stop Auschwitz? Assurer of a Nazi system that ran smoothly on tallow from rendered Jews? The smooth operator who managed to implement the PR of the "Final Solution"?
Why are they unable to say Eichmann oversaw the "murder of millions of innocent civilians.", for example? That would make Ward Churchill look real bad, as opposed to the write-up which must have everyone wondering what the fuss is about.
The Ward Churchill affair is underestimated. It is a sign that leftist academia is under seige from the majority of centre-right thinking people in the US. Further that a major shift may be coming. This could force the controllers of univerity discourse into a massive rethink of their lack of intellectual diversity.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE
As a political inclination and an aesthetic style, fascism is marked by, among other things, the following characteristics:
The worship of violence as a purifying social force.
A hyper-nationalistic ideology, that casts history into a drama featuring an inevitably violent struggle between Good and Evil, and that obsesses on questions of racial and ethnic identity.
The dehumanization and scapegoating of opponents ... demands that the evil in our midst be eradicated "by any means necessary," up to and including the mass extermination of entire nations and peoples.
The treatment of moral responsibility as a fundamentally collective matter.
The tyranny of a nationalistic figure who “represents” the nation. (Added by O_G)

THE FAIRY VOTEMOTHER
Wonderful to see the huge enthusiasm of Iraqis overseas dancing and singing as they cast their ballots, and for the determination of millions of Iraqis in the country to vote in truly frightening circumstances. Against all the odds, the election has been a miracle.
As for the Sunnis? This 20% of Iraqis ran the country as Saddam's henchmen for 30 years, and mercilessly too. They can't be bothered to vote? They want to boycott? Go ahead. Their time is over and they will learn to co-operate with the majority quickly.
John Simpson, that pompous old-media BBC windbag said today the "success of the election depends on if the Sunnis vote." Really?
How typical of the mainstream media - unless the minority of thugs that has lorded it over the pro-Coalition Kurds and Shiites takes part, then they ( the big media) will consider the election a "failure". Pathetic.
This is the same position as, for example, in the South African elections of 1992 saying if pro-apartheid Afrikaaners did not turn out in full, the election would have been a failure! No wonder big media is a dying industry.
Yes, it's imperfect as far as democracy goes, and the progress will be slow and painful, but what a change.
There is nothing you can say to most Europeans that will change their hatred and envy of Americans and George Bush/Tony Blair. And nothing that will get them on the side of the majority of brave Iraqis.

THE PALESTINIAN ELECTION
A Reading From The Book of Bosh
And it came to pass that the fighting ceased between the Philistines and the Isreal-ites. And the new leader of the Philistines, who was called , Mah-Amoud-Aba-As, saith: "Let us extend friendship to the land of Israel."
Those of the tribe of the Hamas-ites were wroth. And they said "Let us slay the Israel-ites anyway, for Mah-Amoud-Aba-As is a weak and foolish man." So they smote six Israel-ites, yea even as Mah-Amoud-Aba-As was speaking.
Now the leader of the Israel-ites was Sha-Aron and when he heard how the Hamas-ites had slain his fellows, did rage and urge his followers thus:
"Yea, revenge ye upon the Hamas-ites and the Philistines, for verily Mah-Amoud-Aba-As is either weak or else he lieth with the forked tongue of the snake of Sinai. Strike them and slay them and spare not the rod nor the arrow."
And so it came to pass that the Philistines and the Israel-ites returned to smiting, and mightily they smote, and on the seventh day.........(continued page 965, Volume IX, Sub Chapter 54)

WONDERFUL FILLING STOP
The Best Gas Station Ever

Posted by Hello
I took this in Madagascar and it has to be the best filling station I have ever seen. I tried to buy it to mount it in my house, but the owner understandably would not sell. The bull horns, the alo-alo statue ( seen holding up the horns), the Cadillac wire wheels and John Deere radiator, plus a pair of 100 year old pumps......amazing. Oh, and it comes with a chair to sit in as you watch the traffic go by. Madagascar is like this, full of wonderful whimsy.

NO_SPEAK?
More evidence emerging, from an official meeting to discuss the new British "religious hatred" law, of the Orwellian intentions behind it.
The UN under it's "Islamophobia" probe and CAIR (Council on American Muslim Relations) are also agitating for similar laws.
More on this from the excellent Melanie Phillips's Diary
"I asked Iqbal Sacranie, general secretary of the MCB (Muslim Council of Britain) ,whether he thought that any public statements about Islamic terrorism, or any speculation about the number of Muslims in Britain who might support Islamic terrorism, would constitute incitement to religious hatred? This is truly terrifying, fundamentally changing every cornerstone of British free speech. That the New Labour clones will pass it overwhelmingly is a forgone conclusion.
He said: 'There is no such thing as an Islamic terrorist. This is deeply offensive. Saying Muslims are terrorists would be covered by this provision'.
So now we know what the MCB wants to prosecute under this proposed new law."

FANCY THAT.............
It seems to have slipped the MSM’s notice. Ever since the cleansing of Fallujah by the Marines , we have seen few of the commonplace obscenities our TV screens: masked Islamic fascists torturing and murdering hostages with impunity.
Fallujah has been pacified – to the chagrin of the left, but the elimination of it’s terrorists had to wait for months due to an international outcry the first time, in April 2004, when the Marines were sent in.
Kofi Annan was heard before the assault saying he thought it "unwise".
He was in charge of U.N. peacekeeping operations at the time of Rwanda and Bosnia, so at least he is being consistently useless.

COSMIC TSUNAMI
Well, the MSM is up to even more spin over the US and the tsunami, as see the Beeb "Why did US base escape tsunami?" it asks of Diego Garcia.
"Is America a power for good or ill in the world? Was there a malign hand at work, or has America's role in the crisis in fact been a model of humanitarian leadership.
Let us know what you think. Is this just anti-US sentiment on the web or something more worrying?" Far more worrying indeed is a tax-payer funded news service offering such rubbish to it's audience.
Whats next? " Did GWB start the tsunami by harnessing cosmic rays from Mars? Send us your views."

THE KYOTO CONNECTION
The tsunami disaster became an excuse for many to indulge in the world's favourite form of neo-racism: America bashing. It's fun being an American these days, we get to know what it's been like to be a Jew or a Black for centuries.
Surely one is exaggerating? Well if any other nationality was talked and written about with the lies, contempt, hatred, distortions and derision as Americans are these days, one would know what to call it, and it's not a pretty name.
Despite the announced death toll started as low as a few thousand, and it took days for the full tragedy to become apparent, America was still blamed for only offering $35 million initially - while others offered nothing.
The problem with those stupid Americans is they can't read the future. They should have known the whole final size of the tragedy and announced the complete aid package on day one.

LITTLE DEUCE SUV
I saw a desperate piece of footage from Aceh. A news helicopter had landed. Survivors were milling about. One of them was screaming at the camera, "Where is the help? We are dying? Where is America?": and this in a fundamentalist Muslim stronghold. He got his answer in about 24 hours when the USS Lincoln's choppers arrived.
Notice he wasn't yelling, "Where is the UN bureaucrat? Where is the WFP guy in his big SUV? Where's the WHO co-ordinating envoy?."
He might be an illiterate peasant, but he's not that out of touch. Unlike the MSM who are busy looking for angles to attack America's handling of the crisis.

THE ROAD TO BLOGOSPHERE
Geroge Orwell remains the finest writer of the nature of modern tyranny. Though seen as a left-wing writer in his time, he was essentially a libertarian socialist from the non-conformist British tradition, who became increasing appalled by the confusion between that movement and Marxism.
Orwell's thoughts in his essay "Politics and The English Language" and the seminal books "1984" and "Animal Farm" remain the greatest, most profoundly disturbing and prophetic writings on the nature of the totalitarian beast ever published.
Whilst Orwell started as a committed leftist, he was increasingly disenchanted, especially after the Spanish Civil War with the left wing as it developed prior and during the Second World War.
In a strange irony, Orwell has now become a canononical figure of the right with his clear thinking, fearless honesty and ruthless expose of what would be later known as the "post-modern mind". With Burke, Jefferson and Adam Smith, his works are crucial to fighting the assault on democracy and enlightement values that is being mounted worldwide by actors as varied as deconstructionists, Baath'ists, neo-leftists and jihadis.
In an age when the Western mind has lost it's moral nexus, Orwell's clarity of thought and ruthless disssection of totalitarian dishonesty is missed as never before. This Blog can only attempt to follow it's mentor and take on the lizardoid thinkers who now dominate the media.

SEX & REPUBLICANS
Madagascar G.O.P. Volonteers
18th October 2004 : ABC news carried the startling statistic that 57% of Republicans in the USA enjoyed their sex lives, compared to only 46% of Democrats. Also, almost twice as many Republicans had ever worn a garment designed to enhance their sex appeal or inflame their partner than Democrats.
It upsets conventional wisdom to imagine those country club loving, stiff-assed, square-brained, family values Republicans should lead significantly happier sex lives than the funky, mother-earth, third-world hugging Dems. Could the Reps really be the sexier party? Will it be possible to swing those votes with a little s*x appeal instead of the deadly fear and boredom of WMD and who should have done what to Saddam earlier or better?
I watched both the national conventions and the Republican women in New York looked prettier, better preserved, better dressed and more happy to flaunt their feminine charm than the Democrat ladies in Boston. They also seemed to be having more pure F-U-N. Also, a large number of Republicans these days are Southerners - and it's common knowledge that women from the South believe in sex, like to flaunt it and are always muttering things like "Mah dee-yah, I declare it's too hot in this room ", as they finger their blouse buttons and wipe their foreheads histrionically.
For a woman, who would be more frisky between John Kerry and George Bush? Making out with John Kerry would be worse than embracing an elongated wooden doll - he'd probably read the Karma Sutra to you in French while listening to Tubular Bells. The unobvious answer is the twitchy, go-fer- it, super-animated shirtsleeves and wood-choppin' George Dubya.
Looking at the two candidates it's obvious that GW could get into a glassy eyed, breathless, stamina-sapping, lively......rant?...........romp?..........whatever, he'd be the terrier to Kerry's labrador if it came to that. As for the candidates wives, this is surely no contest. The previous Democratic President Bill Clinton was noted for having a wife whose charm was capable of reversing global warming - and whose boudoir skillls drove Funky Bill to third-degree cigarophilia.
Have things got better with Theresa Heinz-Kerry? The woman appears to do her coiffure with an egg-beater and have the charm of a large lead weight. Laura Bush, well.......... she's not my ideal date ( give me a double scotch and I'll take another look) but next to Theresa she looks like a rampant sex-goddess. Laura seems she could be.......has been.......maybe even IS right now.........., occasionally frisky and maybe even risque. Which woman is more likely to have shopped at Victoria's Secret? Even Michael Moore knows that answer. And when Laura appears in public with GW it's obvious where her 57% feelings lie. Ms. Heinz seems to tolerate the barely tolerable......that his her inexpressibly boring and pretentious husband John. Will she register 46% on the scale, or four point six?
I could not get away from the Dem ladies even in the remote parts of Madagascar. I was in the Bay of Antongil. Rain forest, lazy rivers, peasant vanilla farmers, the one horse tropical town with is slow charm, the sweep behind us of the blue mountains overlooking the bay. It's a place where little happens and most of it good.
People there have a complete life and culture that neither need much of the rest of the world - nor deserves it. The town is full of gorgeous Afro-Polynesian beauties, oiled of skin, flush with vanilla cash, buxom, smiling, walking the hip-waggle tropical walk or driving motorbikes and ATVs. We visited the market and stayed for hours, just idling with the Malagasy and watching their happy-go-lucky and affectionate lives.
Back at the hotel we met two American wimmen. They had large Kerry-Edwards buttons and the look of desiccated love-children. Their backpacks were emblazoned with worthy-causes patches. Both wore Joan Baez sandals and one a granny dress from Laura Ashley's 1971 collection. Neither had worn a bra since perhaps 1969 - they kept informing one it was half past six every time they walked.
The maximum care their skin ever got was a good scrubbing with handmade Envirobio soap, with the result that their faces looked like last years' Xmas wrappers. They hadn't liked the market. Maybe it was too poor and threw them into a globalization bother. Perhaps it wasn't environmentally sound enough, after all the Malagasy don't have garbage trucks and litter vans. Meat was on display, as well as dead fish - did this upset them, since they certainly had that on-the-brink-of-illness look of many vegans.?
We'll never know. They walked around broadly smiling at everyone with that benign, zoned, white-chick peacenik/beatnik smile that is so condescending. The giant sized Kerry-Edwards buttons meandered and waggled on their T-shirts according to their whims. It made you want, desire, wish, crave for.............well, a Southern woman, a long night ahead and a bottle of Tequila.

DERISION,DERRIDED,DEFUNCT
There has been one good thing this week at least, the passing of Jaques Derrida, yet another of the dire French philosophers of the past century. Whereas Jean- Paul Satre was responsible for an entire generation of existentialist angst and quasi-Marxist rapture ( not for nothing were the Khymer Rouge called "Satre's Children"), the wretched Derrida managed to outdo even Satre. Derrida is the father of such gems of philosophy as post-modernism and "de-construction", whereby everything anyone ever believed in, anywhere, at any time, has been held up for ridicule and proved to not exist. Except power.
Derrida's drivel whelped the even worse Michael Foucault, the philosopher of sexual depravity and cruelty whose "works" and "methods" now dominate intellectual discourse in Western academia. Foucault exited in 1984 a squalid death amongst the Turkish bathhouse scene of San Francisco, specializing in his "power" of sado-masochism. From this contemporary Marquis de Sade to the downfall of the teaching of Western humanities was an inevitable step. Needless to say both men were basic Marxists.
Foucault for example, concludes in his scribblings that mental illness is a result of alienation caused by capitalism. This idea is being extended to all illness being a result of capitalism or racism.. Thus 80 years after Lysenko, we arrive back at the same point in de-constructed "science".
Moral relativism and even nihilism seem like friendly armchairs compared to the vacuous gobbledegook that Derrida and Foucault conceived. Derrida's ideas and those of Foucaltian followers in most Western universities comprise the greatest feats of philosophical failure since the evolution of the brain cell.
France is renowned as a country having the finest wine and cuisine.....and the worst philosophers.
